My heart broke more than once reading this book!
I actually read book two first- Christmas in Rose Bend without actually realising it was part of a series until I finished. Naima Simone writes her characters and every plot with such amazing dynamics and depth that you can pick up a book in the middle of a series and still rate it five stars. Having said that now that I’ve read this beautiful book I’m going to read the second again.
The Road to Rose Bend follows Sydney Collins who has returned to Rose bend having left eight years previous declaring never to return. Sydney has suffered heart ache and loss in her past having recently discovered she’s pregnant with he ex husbands baby Sydney moves back across the country to bring her baby into the world where she began.
Back in Rose Bend Cole Dennison has become mayor this year having suffered his own loss and heart ache over losing his wife and son during child birth. Cole is part of a big loving family who have dragged him back to his life and continue to love and support him.
Rose bend isn’t without it’s fair share of questionable characters and despite Sydney and her best friend Leo (Cole’s sister) picking up exactly where they left of they still face their high school mean girl on more than one occasion .
I love the depth of the characters throughout and the real sense of community throughout. The inner turmoil of the main characters really adds a tender and raw dynamic to the story.
I am utterly in love with Rose Bend and can’t wait for the next installment!
